I got a jolt of vicarious joy from those adorable kittens your friend is fostering, and seeing you with them! I also experienced such a burst of happiness kayaking in Monterey Bay with my boyfriend, enjoying the harbor seals playing 5 feet away from us. It was July 4 and those seals couldn’t have cared less. 😂🥰
The wrens nesting in the birdhouse on my front porch. I’ve had the birdhouse for years, but until now it’s only been home to wasps. I love hearing the birds singing in the morning and watching them try to jam enormous sticks into the tiny tiny hole on the birdhouse.
What's bringing me joy right now? Well, it's election day here in the UK and after 14 years of Tory rule, they are going to get their a*ses kicked and they deserve it. (Though there is the fear that Nigel Farage's Reform party might win. Doesn't bear thinking.) Also: I'm going to make brownies later.
I'm sure a lot of people are overjoyed, but there's also a lot of cynicism these days. I have gotten very cynical since we moved here--which I'm not thrilled about. The Tories have broken this country for the last 14 years and there is a LOT of work to be done to fix it. It's worrying. And the state of America is also worrying. I try to be hopeful but wow, life recently has been... a lot. Far too much. So. I am hopeful but realistic. (Not pessimistic, realistic!)
Ginny! Such a landslide victory is happening. It's unfortunate that "The Reform" right wingers got enough seats to firmly plant themselves in parliament-- but we gotta embrace the win 🏆
This really made my day. My walks in the morning by the lake before the day hits 100 degrees. I needed the reminder to create moments of joy right now!
The three or four purple prairie clovers that are blooming their fuzzy conical heads off in my hard pan clay unwatered backyard Colorado garden like no big deal, we got this

This sounds amazing!!! Seals don't care whether American politics are a dumpster fire! 🤣
